Strangely I also have the non-steam version of Aerofly and it does not produce the same compatiblity box message at all. It will not get rid of the "compatibility box" message which I also do see each time I run it. There is a chance that doing the same will do the same for you. That is why I wonder if the fact I have it working is tied to where I installed it.
I wanted to ask are there any plans to port it to iOS too, or at least, the older RC 7 version It would be very good to have it on the iPad, for some loo/bed training time. ( you can do this in the properties page for each folder belonging to a user ). Aerofly FS/FS 2 are already on the App Store, for iOS (by the way, they work extremely well).
On those same systems I also redirected the user folders too. I installed Steam in all cases to D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ and with the overlay turned off Aerofly works on multiple systems. Aerofly RC 8 is THE model flight simulator with extremely real flight physics, fantastic graphics and VR mode. The new security features may be the real issue.

I've been tempted to buy it, but it's a little more than I want to spend at the moment.
AEROFLY RC 9 STEAM FULL
You can buy 7 through the app store for like, $40, I think? Only downside is it's limited to a couple dozen planes and 4 fields, whereas the full blown version for $130 gives you something like 200 models to fly with and 10-15 locations to fly at. 8 - you get a bunch of field locations and different planes. If I run it on my dad's 2018 iMac, it runs much smoother, with graphics turned up to full, and it'll run on Catalina. I'm currently running 7 on my 2014 Mac Mini, and it runs ok.
